Mind, Body, Soul: The Benefits of Martial Arts Training

For some of us, martial arts training conjures up images of Shaolin Monks walking the American West, movie stars and hulking fighters battling to submission. But you do not need to be a wandering ascetic, fight crime on the big screen or ground and pound an opponent to reap the tremendous health and mental benefits of learning martial arts. While it’s always wise to begin your training under the tutelage of an expertly trained instructor, you can strengthen your body and mind and practice your moves from home with fitness equipment.

Many people participate in martial arts to learn self-defense and build confidence. Yet, the health benefits martial arts provide are noteworthy. Of course, whether sparring with an opponent or kicking and striking fitness equipment, such as the Nexersys, the physical benefits also help reduce stress.

Bruce Lee, arguably the most recognized martial arts practitioner, was famous for his movies as well as his dedicated training regimen. Regardless of whether you choose to practice various martial arts such as kung fu, karate or Thai kickboxing, you can build strength, improve your cardiovascular health, tone muscle and manage weight, all while having fun.

Aside from the physical gains and stress reduction, martial arts also help train the mind to focus and concentrate. Rather than aimlessly punching or kicking, the brain and body work together in harmony to achieve balance and control. In fact, Bruce Lee once said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” The discipline derived from such awareness and discipline can extend beyond martial arts and into your daily life.

So, grasshoppers, when you are ready to train, improve your cardio and core fitness and practice your martial arts techniques from home, follow the path, listen to your heartbeat and use your mind to see yourself strong and fit by finding out more at www.nexersys.com.

  1. Martial arts seems like a great idea for people of all ages. Like you said, it’s a fun way of building strength and improving your health. Working out always seems like a chore to me, but I’d love it if it was part of martial arts training, I think.

"Just received the 3.2 update - outstanding!"

I really like the 3D effect for the Mitts and Sparring. Curious as to what would be involved to have the new center strike pad that is new with the N3.

"The best workout I have ever had"

I downloaded the update yesterday, let me tell you it's the best workout I have ever had. It's fun - like working out with a trainer. And the sensors are so much better, I don't have any problem with them. Thank you!

We have regulars that use it here on a daily basis. It’s a great alternative to a cardio and strength workout plus, it’s not boring and keeps you motivated. We encourage all our members to give it a go!

"Having the Nexersys on campus has gone over great..."

The students have seen it on TV, on YouTube and in the magazines and are ready to make it a regular part of their fitness routine. We are super happy with our Nexersys and I expect we’ll have to get another one.

"Love coming in and using the Nexersys..."

My son, Jaxon, and I love coming into the Northeast Family YMCA and using the Nexersys. I teach group fitness classes at the YMCA so it is important to me that my son stays active and leads a healthy lifestyle.

"This machine is AWESOME..."

I have trained with some of the worlds best coaches. This machine is AWESOME. I get the best of both worlds. It increases your agility, power, and cardio. The cardio segment really works the hard to reach muscles and the abdominal routine is insane. I have yet to find a better machine or exercise to do high Intensity Interval Training on. This machine is everything it says it is and more.
