Reducing Stress and Anxiety with Interval Training

Whether your fitness goals are to tone muscle, increase your endurance and stamina or to lose weight, interval training is a fantastic method to achieve results quickly. In fact, findings suggest interval training is a healthy way to lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Yet, an often-overlooked, long-term benefit of a sound exercise regimen is the potential to increase mental acuity and improve mental state.

There are numerous reasons consumers spend billions of dollars worldwide to buy home fitness equipment. Many consumers look to the home fitness market as a way to help control or lose weight, get or stay healthy and feel at ease exercising leisurely from the comfort of their residence. Our bodies may benefit from regular exercise by burning fat, battling disease, increasing energy and helping us sleep better; however, our body also does something else. By releasing chemicals such as endorphins, serotonin, dopamine and more, our mental state also benefits from workouts.

While our self-confidence increases as a result of looking great in a bikini or swim shorts, our nervous systems are hard at work stimulating impressive effects on our mental state via exercise. For example, in the short-term, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), such as kicking and striking accelerometers on the Nexersys, can produce what is sometimes termed a ‘runners high.’ This happens when, during vigorous exercise, powerful endorphins are released into our systems. The endorphins cause a state of euphoria. However, by triggering endorphins and other brain chemicals during interval training workouts, we can see other benefits such as a reduction in feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. Have you ever felt like you were in a mental fog? A bevy of evidence suggests exercise can also improve cognitive thinking.

At Nexersys, we not only focus our design of the Nexersys on helping you develop a “Hard Body” — “Sharp Mind” is an important part of our core message because we firmly believe home fitness equipment should not just be about looking great. You should feel amazing as well.
